Rogue Wave swept onto the indie rock scene in 2003 out of Oakland, California, recently gaining popularity with their popular single ‘Lake Michigan’.  Mixing indie rock with pop-based melodies, their alt pop sound seems at first incongruous with their often times darkly philosophical and melancholy lyrics.  Yet, Rogue Wave remains unapologetically contradictory as they continue to create music that is simultaneously danceable and thoughtful.  The band’s most recent album, Permalight, highlights their most recent musical experimentations, featuring tunes full of synth beats and psychedelic guitars alongside purely acoustic numbers. Official Site
